Arranging for Perfect Wedding Cake Pictures
Pictures of the bride and groom are obviously the most important
photographs from the wedding ceremony and the wedding reception. Of
course, photographs of the guests are important also. What about the
pictures of the wedding cake? What about the pictures of the bride
and groom cutting the wedding cake? Obviously, these pictures are
also going to belong to the collection of treasured photographs, so
shouldn’t they be perfect too?
After
all, the bride probably spends hours upon hours paging through
seemingly endless magazines just to find the perfect design or style
for her special wedding cake. Next, she scours the area for the
perfect bakery to produce this perfect wedding cake for her. Then,
when the day of the wedding arrives, the cake is the last thing on
her mind in all likelihood until the time arrives for the bride and
groom to cut the cake.
That’s why it is essential to think about your wedding cake and how
it will look in your wedding photographs. Naturally, the bride
believes that the wedding cake will be gorgeous in the photographs
since it is simply gorgeous to begin with. Unfortunately, she might
not have considered some important scenarios and particulars.
It is important to scope out the area where the cake will be located
before and during the wedding celebration. Certain conditions can
damage the appearance of the wedding cake and destroy any chance of
having perfect pictures of the wedding cake. In fact, consider all
of the following circumstances or precautions when determining the
perfect place where the wedding cake will be placed prior to the
pictures.
•
Avoid direct sunlight at all times- If the wedding reception is
outdoors, place the wedding cake in the shade, in particular, under
a canopy or tent. If the wedding reception is indoors, place the
cake away from any area where the sunlight streaming in from the
window can fall. Remember that the sunlight will move throughout the
day and take that into consideration.
• Avoid heat- If the wedding reception is indoors, locate the cake
away from heating vents, radiators, or forced hot air ducts.
Alternatively, it might be possible to have the hall close the vent
that is located near the wedding cake.
• Use refrigeration- Refrigerate the cake, if required, as long as
possible. This is especially important if the cake will be outdoors.
• Avoid delicate cakes and frostings- If your wedding reception is
scheduled to take place outdoors, it is best to avoid frostings that
melt easily, cheesecakes, and ice cream cakes.
• Avoid high traffic areas- Place the cake in an area where it will
be out of the way of high traffic. This helps to prevent accidental
bumping and damage due to idle hands dabbling in the frosting.
•
Avoid areas that are open to the elements- If the wedding reception
is occurring outdoors, avoid placing the wedding cake in open areas
where it is susceptible to the wind. Undesirable things can blow
onto the cake. A brisk wind can topple a wedding cake over.
Remember that perfect wedding cake pictures are not a given in any
wedding. Plan ahead and circumvent any minor or major disasters that
can destroy any chance for perfect wedding cake pictures.
