Packing for Your Florida Honeymoon: From bikinis and lingerie to out-on-the-town looks

It’s nice to know when you’re packing for your honeymoon that you are almost done wedding planning. But don’t be so rushed when packing for this very special trip that you forget things that you will need while vacationing with your loved one. There are lots of things to remember and you don’t want to be stuck without or running around looking for something that you forgot at home. Remember that you will need something for everything. You will probably do some general exploring of the area, probably at least one nice dinner, some swimming, and of course, the lingerie that you will wear in your room. Here is a short overview of what you will need as your packing for your Florida honeymoon to make sure you have all the essentials.

Pants

In the tropics the chances that you will need pants are not very good. Choose only one pair if you can to help yourself in packing light. Lightweight capris, linen pants, and khakis are all a very good choice. Khakis were actually designed to be worn in tropical weather so these may be your best bet. Pants with a little bit of stretch in them are also very comfortable and can be a great choice for when you’re out walking in the area.

Shorts

Shorts you will probably need in a location like Florida far more than you will need to worry about pants. Pack at least two or three pairs of shorts that are very comfortable and can be used for exploring the town and doing anything else casual that you may be doing. Bring one more pair of shorts that is a bit dressier for those times when you want to remain casual and comfortable but don’t want to look like you just stepped off the beach. A split skirt is a really good option for this. Also when you’re packing your shorts, designate one pair to be worn on the beach. These you can fill with all the sand that you want and you won’t need to worry about not having a pair of shorts when you’re there.

Shirts

You will need plenty of T-shirts or tank tops when honeymooning in Florida. Bring lots as you may need to change them once or twice during the day due to how hot it is in Florida. Also try to bring shirts that have some spandex in them. These can be hand-washed and rinsed and then worn again later in the trip.

Beachwear

For the beach, bring two bathing suits. If you’re going to be wearing bikinis, it’s a great idea to purchase two different ones that can be mixed and matched with the others so you can have a total of four different looks. Or bring one bikini for the beach time that you take advantage of during the day and a one-piece either for night swimming or for the spa at the hotel. Bringing two suits can also save you the discomfort of wearing a bathing suit that is already wet when you put it on.

Also think about what you want to wear over the bathing suit. While you may think that shorts and a t-shirt will do it, this is a very quick way to run out of clothes so you may want to consider something different for wearing to the beach. A sarong or wrap-around is a good choice. Also don’t forget to wear a hat to provide for added sun protection.

Lingerie and Sleepwear

Lingerie is important when you’re on your Florida honeymoon. You will definitely want something that is extra special for your wedding night. Other than that, your regular lingerie will probably be enough. If you don’t usually wear lingerie, you may want to pick up a few extra things that will make the honeymoon that much more special. Be sure to look at the pieces you have picked out and bring any accessories that they may need. For example, if you are bringing a piece of lingerie that has spaghetti straps, you don’t want to forget a cute strapless bra.

Evening Wear

Whether you are going dancing or going for a nice dinner at a fancy restaurant, the chances are good that you will need attire that is a bit more formal at some point during your honeymoon. If you’ve had a destination wedding in Florida, the chances are also good that you’re not sure exactly what the atmosphere is like in the local restaurants or clubs. For this reason, it’s best to just bring a little black dress that can become dressier or more casual, depending on what you pair with it. If you know the atmosphere of where you’re going, bring appropriate clothing.

Shoes

There are three main types of shoes that you will need. These are running shoes for exploring the town or whenever you’re going to be spending a good deal of time walking; sandals for the beach; and a more formal pair of shoes to wear with that little black dress.
