Shoes for your Beach Wedding: Making the decision between barefoot and trying to navigate sand in heels
Florida Weddings

So you’ve decided to get married on a beach in sunny Florida and while you have everything else picked out – your hair, your makeup, your dress – you still have no idea what you’re going to do what you’re going to do about wedding shoes. There are a few things to take into consideration. You want to look great, you want to be elegant, even if the event is a bit more casual than a traditional wedding, and you want to remain safe. No one wants to get hurt on their wedding day. Many brides may think that the only two choices are going barefoot or wearing heels but this is truly not the case. There are many options for beach wedding shoes, and they all look great!

If you want to wear a dressy shoe that is carries a bit of tradition with it, you can wear a nice flat shoe. Be sure to have it match the color of your dress and make sure that it is indeed flat. Not only will it be easier to walk in on the soft sand but it will also be safer. If you must wear a heel, wear a shoe that has just a tiny little heel. These can be very elegant and can polish off your complete look.

If you still want to wear a shoe that covers your entire foot but you don’t like the look of any flats that you have come across, try a ballet-style shoe. These are very pretty and can add that touch of innocence when you are exchanging vows with waves crashing in the background. These shoes are very trendy right now and are really more like a slipper than they are a shoe. They will offer you support but will be flexible enough against the sand that you won’t feel like you’re sinking, or about to fall over.

If you want to bring a true beach feel to your entire look, a nice pair of sandals or even flip flops can work perfectly. Now of course you don’t want to buy the two for a dollar variety that you can find at a dollar store. There are many beautiful flip flops available that have pretty designs on them or jewelry, such as rhinestones, embedded along the foot and toe straps. If they still feel too casual for you, finding a nice pair of sandals can also make a great beach wedding shoe. These can also be embedded with jewelry or they can have something a little more unique such as a wrap-around ankle or have the sandal dyed the same colour as your dress.

Now, if you want something that is extremely unique, you can wear foot jewelry. Foot jewelry isn’t really a shoe at all. It is something that is placed over the top of your foot and it looks like the top of a sandal. This is a great way to remain barefoot but look like you are wearing shoes. Foot jewelry may not sound extremely elegant but it really is. Austrian crystals or colored glass are usually used to make the beautiful footwear, giving your feet a look full of class and charm.

If all of the above options really just don’t work for you, you will probably need to make the decision between barefoot and heels. Going barefoot is a great way to add even more romance to your special day and there’s no reason not to if you’re not going to be walking over any rough terrain. You really should try to avoid wearing heels at your beach wedding. It can be quite dangerous and you don’t want to be worrying about the fact that you can barely walk up the aisle.
