'Theme'ing your Florida Wedding: Going tropical from flowers to cake
to match your locale
Florida Weddings
If you’re planning a wedding in Florida the chances are good that you will
want to have the wedding follow a tropical theme. Tropical-themed weddings are
very easy and a lot of fun to plan. Everything from the cake, to the favors, to
the food, to the flowers can be, and should be, incorporated into the theme.
Staying consistent with the theme will make the wedding flow more smoothly and
will provide you and your guests with a wedding that will not soon be
forgotten.
One of the first things that you will need to think about are the
decorations. When choosing decorations, remember that weather will play a huge
role in what kind of decorations you have. Choose heavy decorations that will
not get blown away in the wind. Seashells are a
great way to incorporate the
tropical theme into your wedding and they are usually heavy enough that they
will not get blown away. Line an aisle with them or place them on the back of
guest’s chairs. If there are decorations that you want to use that may get
blown away in the wind, such as balloons, you can still have them you just need
to plan to hold them down with something heavy.
You will probably be thinking of wedding favors long before the actual day
as you will most likely need to order them ahead of time. There are a multitude
of wonderful beach favors available online and in other novelty stores. Tea
light holders can be in the shape of two small wooden chairs that have the
bride’s and groom’s name printed on them. Or you can choose something such as a
keychain in the shape of a flip flop with the couple’s name or picture in them.

Flowers are probably one of the easiest ways to go for a tropical-themed
wedding. Of course, you want to pick tropical flowers. Orchids are probably the
tropical flower that people are most familiar with. But also consider adding
Anthurium, ginger, birds of paradise, and Heliconias to the mix. Whatever you
choose, make sure that it is very colorful. Nothing says tropical more than the
bright, lively images that are conjured up when one thinks of the tropics.

Menu is always one of the biggest decisions a couple will make when planning
their wedding reception. Once again, this is made very easy when planning a
tropical wedding. You want to keep the food in the theme of the locale and so
seafood is your best bet. Serving crab, shrimp, oysters, mussels, and any other
sea fare is sure to impress guests and keep them talking about the marvelous
food they had at your wedding. Just make sure that you include some food that
has nothing to do with fish for those that have allergies or don’t particularly
care for it. Things like barbecued chicken is a very good choice for those who
need to steer clear of the seafood.
And lastly, there’s the cake. Choosing a tropical cake is so much fun
because you can use real seashells on it or tropical flowers. Add extra fun to
this main event by using edible flowers. These will make your cake even more
beautiful and will also be a great conversation piece. Browse our

should. Having your wedding in the tropics is all about fun in the sun and
every part of your wedding should play a part in that.
