Avoiding the Tourist Traps for Your Honeymoon: A Truly Romantic Getaway
Florida Weddings

Honeymooning in Florida is a wonderful experience that is sure to be filled with sun, fun, and lots to see and do! But just how much you want to see and do is completely up to you. While it’s true that Florida has world renowned attractions and many sights to see, you may not want to see them all, or even any of them. You may be looking to honeymoon in Florida due to its tropical heat and romantic settings. If you’re looking for a honeymoon that is more about the two of you and less about Disney characters, there are many wonderful little-known locations in Florida that are made just for you!

Flagler Beach is one such location. This small town that is fifteen miles away from Daytona Beach is a sleepy little town contains a population of only 5,400. This town is perfect if you’re looking forward to spending your honeymoon laying on the beach and basking in the sun with your new husband. The six miles of beaches that Flagler boasts are unlike the other beaches that you will find in the rest of the sunny state. These are quiet, spacious beaches that aren’t littered with people at every hour of the day.

But there is still a lot to do when you’re not out catching all that beautiful sun. Downtown is filled with quaint old-fashioned shops that will make you think you’ve traveled back in time. You won’t need to wade through crowds or fight traffic to get to the wonderful shops and restaurants either. Not only are there not a lot of crowds in Flagler but in a town that only contains three stoplights, wherever you want to go is within walking distance.

Another secluded Florida honeymoon location is Little Palm Island Resort & Spa. Although this is a resort that is going to also have other vacationers enjoying the facilities, this is still one of the most exclusive places that you can share your honeymoon. The island is an actual island and therefore is only accessible by boat or seaplane. If you want your honeymoon to be filled with relaxation and what the resort calls “lazy days,” you can take advantage of the lagoon pool that is filled with completely fresh water, a trip to Spa Terre, where you will be thoroughly pampered, gourmet dining in the dining room, or enjoying time on the beach that has pure white sand.

If there are days where you just want to get out and explore, Little Palm has many of these types of activities to enjoy as well. Spend some time fishing whether it is deep sea fishing, flats fishing, or back country fishing. There is also scuba diving and snorkeling available when you want to get up close and personal with the creatures of the sea. And the water activities go on to include kayaking and day sailing. If you want to get away from the water for a day or two and find some other activities, Key West is very nearby and it is here that nightlife, shopping, and historic tours are available.

Another destination that is worth checking out if you’re looking for a quiet honeymoon is the Forgotten Coast in Florida. This location in Destin got its name quite naturally as has become, quite literally, forgotten by the masses. However, those that still do visit and live here wouldn’t have it any other way. The most memorable thing about the Forgotten Coast is the many secluded white beaches that lie here. There are some very fine resorts and hotels that will be happy to accommodate a couple looking to start their life together in a peaceful environment where they can focus on each other.

It’s possible to get away from the tourist traps when looking for a place to spend your honeymoon. Spending the time getting to know your new husband and focusing on each other is easy and fun to do in Florida. Honeymoons don’t have to be, and shouldn’t be, all about the local attractions.
