Beach Wedding Themes

Many brides planning their weddings in Florida or in Cancun hold their weddings on the beach. Adding an additional, but related theme to your wedding can really set it apart. Following are a few ideas, you can use them as they are presented or as a list to help you come up with your own ideas.

Fairy Tale Wedding

The beauty of the ocean and the soft sand make the beach a perfect place to hold a fairy tale wedding. For table decorations you can get those souvenirs that look like sandcastles. Embellish them with a few flowers for a charming beach twist on a fairy tale castle. Another option is to get glass slippers (these are sold at many wedding stores online) and put sand and small seashells in them. You can also hire someone to create a sandcastle in the sand as a decoration.

You can arrive and leave in a horse drawn carriage. Have a red carpet to walk down the aisle. A waltz would be a perfect first dance. Send out invitations with a wax seal on pretty parchment paper.

Seashells By the Seashore

Seashells are beautiful and synonymous with ocean in the minds of many people, so using them as your inspiration for decorations is a perfect fit. Get fish netting to put on archways, gazebos, or other places that need decoration. Put tropical flowers, palm leaves and seashell in the netting for a soft tropical look that everyone will enjoy. Incorporate seashells in your bouquets and boutonnières. You could carry a pretty basket filled with seashells and petals. A small blue flower with a small seashell at the base make a perfect boutonniere. Wear a tiara of seashells or have them added to any of your hair accessory items. Have two flower girls and give them a string of seashells to carry between them as they drop petals. Decorate lights or torches with raffia and seashells. Use large half clamshells as serving dishes.

Give your guests seashell leis as they enter the wedding. Glue seashells onto napkin rings, tie them around the cake knife, use them to decorate the cake, and toasting glasses. Drape grass skirts on the tables and hang seashells on the edges. Some ideas for centerpieces is to use topiary trees and add seashells, fill small buckets with sand and seashells and put a candle in the center, or to put a small amount of sand on a round mirror in the center of the table and add some seashells.

Surf's Up

Surf boards with unique patterns as a backdrop, mini surf boards with the bride and groom's name for centerpieces, wave patterns, Beach Boys' music playing in the background and bright colors.

Sands of Time

put clock faces in sand in a bowl, have a large sand timer decorated with flowers as a decoration on the buffet table, put messages in a bottle, have a display with clock faces and pictures of the couple from birth till now.
