Butterfly Wedding Theme
Butterflies are a perfect inspiration for a theme
for many brides. They are wondrous creatures that flight and float.
They are ephemeral and come in hundreds of colors, so the bride is
sure of finding butterflies that match her favorite colors. They
also bring to mind springtime, a time of love. Following are some
ideas to help you plan your butterfly wedding theme.
Decorating Ideas
Floral vines with a few fake butterflies added every
so often are a great way to decorate the fronts of long tables and
are perfect for draping along the top of a wall with some light
colored fabric and twinkling lights. Pretty birdcages decorated with
flowers and butterflies are a great choice for a centerpiece on each
of the tables. If you would prefer something that is shorter so that
guests can see each other across the table, try miniature bird baths
with a little water in them. Decorate the base with flowers. Put a
few fake butterflies on the rim of the bath, and you can even put a
few floating candles inside for a nice glowing effect.
Decorate the cake with rhinestones and candy
butterflies. You can also find larger butterflies made from nylon
that could be placed wherever an accent is needed. Small butterfly
hairclips can be attached to a fabric napkin ring for a nice accent
on the table. Large potted plants and fake trees placed in the
corners of the room are also a good way to decorate. Many brides
also want to release butterflies, this is somewhat controversial,
but if you are set on it, it can be a beautiful addition.
Favor Ideas
There are numerous items available that have
butterflies etched or engraved on them that would make nice favors.
Some of these items include, nice silver bookmarks, crystal glasses,
mirrors with butterfly etchings, tins, small jewelry boxes and many
others. If your butterfly theme leans more toward a garden style,
you might give small flower pots with butterflies painted on them.
You could put a packet of butterfly loving flowers such as Violets,
Shasta Daisies, Aster, English Lavender and Bee Balm. If you prefer
giving some sort of treat as a favor, you can make a chocolate or
vanilla butterfly using candy molds. You can then wrap them in
cellophane and tie them with a pretty ribbon. A butterfly theme
lends well to gifts for the bridesmaids. Pretty butterfly charm
necklaces, or hair pins are a great idea and they can wear them to
the wedding. For the groomsmen you may consider a nice tie pin with
a butterfly etched into it.
Flower Arrangements
For the men have a simple boutonnière made with a
single fabric butterfly at the base. For the bridesmaids bouquets
consider a butterfly at the base, along with pretty rhinestone
picks. The flower girl can wear pretty nylon butterfly wings, or she
could hold a decorated butterfly net filled with petals to drop.
